Tolerances and acceptance criteria in precast erection
Published:
Short answer: Acceptance in precast erection checks the tolerance that accumulates from foundation to roof. No element should be lowered until the socket's internal dimensions, top level and axis position have been surveyed and recorded; most deviations start at the foundation. During erection, column verticality, column top level, beam bearing width and level differences between slabs are measured and recorded with the element code.
Foundation check before erection
Socket internal dimensions, top level and axis position are surveyed and recorded before erection starts. Out-of-tolerance foundations are corrected first; otherwise the deviation accumulates upwards into the roof elements.
Measured items
Column verticality, column top level, beam bearing width, purlin spacing and level differences between slabs are measured during erection. Every measurement is recorded together with the element code.
Grout and connections
No load is transferred onto socket infill or connection grout before it reaches the strength declared by the manufacturer. Curing time and ambient temperature records form part of the acceptance file.
Acceptance file
The file handed over at erection acceptance contains measurement records, grout test results, the element delivery list and any repair records. It also becomes the reference for later alterations and capacity increases during operation.
